Principal photography has just wrapped in California for CAA repped Writer/Director Marty Madden’s indie drama ‘Cotton‘ starring Gary Cole  (Talladega Nights -The Ballad of Ricky Bobby; Pineapple Express) and Lusia Strus (50 First Dates; Miss Congeniality 2)

Madden, who recently completed production of his feature film ‘Musical Chairs’ in New York directed by Susan Seidelman, will be making his Directorial debut in this highly inspirational drama set in a small Texas town.

Produced by Madden and James Bagley along with Tom Tangen of Elusive Entertainment  the film follows the story of Cotton Welles (Erik Scott Smith – Cold Mountain, A Walk to Remember), a reluctant faith healer trying to find his place in the world. Lost and alone, Cotton takes a job as a ranch hand on a horse farm owned by widower, Clay Peaks (Gary Cole) and his young daughter Emily (Dani Fish).  Over time, Cotton starts to open up, growing closer to the family and falling in love with a lovely young girl named Maxine (Zoe Perry), who comes into help Clay with the housework.  Everything seems to be going perfectly, until Cotton’s past catches up with him in the form of predatory evangelist mother, Maggie Mae Cooper-Welles (Lusia Strus).

“Cotton is a film that explores deeply personal themes of faith and family that people wrestle with all the time,” explains Madden.  “It’s a story about finding the strength to make it through life’s difficult transitions and learning to appreciate the people who love us and the tiny miracles in our everyday lives.”

Audiences will be enchanted and moved by the power of Maddens heartwarming drama as the movie explores the difference between a quiet faith that sustains us in difficult times and one that is used for selfish ends and to inspire fear.  A true actors’ piece with rousing live music performances and richly drawn characters, all who watch this movie will helplessly fall in love with ‘Cotton.’

Co-Produced by JJ Rogers, Michael Donahue, Ray Quiroga, Andre Agazaryan and Tara Lonzo, ‘Cotton’ wrapped filming in northern Los Angeles on September 27th 2011 and is slated for a 2012 release.
