Lisa Edelstein, who has played Dr. Cuddy on the Fox show “House” for the past seven years is out the door. They only offered her two million dollars for the season and Edelstein doesn’t think that’s cute at all. So bye bye House fans.
“After much consideration, I am moving onward with a combination of disappointment at leaving behind a character I have loved playing for seven years and excitement of the new opportunities in acting and producing that lie ahead,” Edelstein said in a statement (via TV Line).
House is a great show, but they maybe should have canceled after season 5. It has just gotten so weird. And now without Cuddy, what’s the point? She’s the most delightfully inappropriately dressed doctor/hospital administrator of all time. I’ve never seen so much cleavage and three inch heels in the real hospital world.
I hope the eighth season gets better, because the entire seventh season has been a disappointment. The storyline with them as boyfriend/girlfriend was excruciating, and not true to the characters. For the past seven years, Wilson has said over and over that Cuddy is the only hospital administrator who could deal with House’s behavior.
Now that Cuddy is leaving, House is going to have a new boss. So perhaps something good will come out of that.
I hope Lisa knows what’s she’s doing. I mean look at what Julianna Margulies went through. It took her years before she landed on her feet again. But at least now she is the lead on a top-rated show – The Good Wife – so it wasn’t all bad for her. It just took years to get back in the game. Margulies was also the lead in some legal show on one of the cable networks for a couple of years, but, nothing approaching ER’s numbers.
Good Luck Lisa Edelstein. I hope we don’t see your career coming back in an ambulance.
